Electrify Book 1 Chapter 26
The base was quiet as usual and after an unhealthy meal of several pizzas, we went to bed. Usually, that would have been it for the day but Fiore has other plans. We made out till we were horny as hell and almost had s.e.x. Almost, being the key word here. Nonetheless, the sleep was nice and we woke up fresh in the morning.
While, Fiore headed back to her work, I went to the Shield to sort a few things out. My presence at shield was becoming less and less relevant as they adapted to my policies. Fury and Maria kept things running smoothly and the agency was heading in the right direction. I wanted to give up my position and take up a passive role, like Tony. I handed in my papers and looked at Fury who was looking at me like I was growing another head.
"No." Fury said tearing up my papers. "You will be at that position, till the moment you die. However, I will accept you working here once a week." He said and walked away before giving me a chance to speak.
Huh, I was surprised to say the least but the offer was as good as I was ever gonna get without having to actually face the consequences of such a choice. I had decided to just roll with it and walked towards the M-unit quarters. Yeah, they finally named my team but went with a retarded name. I sighed and went to see Miles working out while Flynn was lounging around reading a comic. I activated my vision and looked at Miles and boy was that a bad idea. I spotted 36 small growths inside his body. For now they were pretty much benign but they were pretty much inoperable. I just sighed and walked towards Flynn. He noticed me and tensed up, he sat up straight and hid his book.
"You do realize that I can literally see the book." I said and he coughed a bit.
"Sir, glad to see back here." Miles said as he dropped his weights.
"Yes, always a pleasure to meet you." Flynn said with sarcasm dripping from his voice.
"At ease." I said and put on my civilian clothes.
That's right, I had finally figured out how they did it. Basically, we keep a whole bunch of clothes in a summon area or in a pocket dimension, then with a mix of Enchantment and basic magic burst and a slight focused intent, your clothes will first be teleported to the dimension and the clothes or armor of choice will be put on you. With that bit off show off out of the way, I began to talk to both of them about their lives at he moment. Miles had been facing a bit of backlash from him mother due to late night patrols. Flynn on the other hand was finally happy due to the financial freedom. Though, he complained that his family kept accusing him of theft. I checked up on Jessica and remarkably, she had been put in the reserve roster to any all hands on deck situation. Basically, becoming a full time Shield scientist with a generous amount of freedom and research grants.
Warren had chosen to live with Xavier and his team and I could notice a pattern of change in his reports. He had begun to put X-Men first by trying to hide bits of information here and there. Fortunately, he still had enough wits about him not to overly constrict the information flow, because he knows that I will be on to him and that would mean a world of unnecessary pain. I looked through the recent developments and found an oddly growing number of omega mutants. Iceman, Ororo, Jean, and new one called Wind mage. Technically, I was also an omega level mutant and so was Pietro. The older generation was Charles and Erik and then came then ancient generation like Apocalypse and Yahweh. I memorized the recent shenanigans by the X men and noted a few key topics such as Jean's unstable behavior and her powers going minutely out of control.
With the basic check in done and beating the shit out of both the heroes, I was back in my cave. I carefully placed all my belongings and suit inside it and went to the Central Park. I looked at my right hand and saw the bronze ring. I opened my palm and gently pushed against the space with an ancient chant. The space in front of me cracked like glass and I walked through it. The world was eerily quiet despite the moving object. The mirror dimension had a certain charm to it but it also demands respect and knowledge. I flew up into the air and channeled muon particles like I would electricity. The effect was instant but subtle. I could feel myself getting heavier but at the same time the density and the power of my body increased. I went to a building nearby and punched a hole in the wall without feel anything. I stopped flying and let myself fall about 30feet and the result was a hole straight through the road into the underground sever system. Disgusted by the filth, I cleaned up my burning away everything on my person. This was an impressive level of strength but any half decent sorcerer could produce these results. If I am able to use this along side the electricity then that would be a game changer. I channeled electricity and felt myself getting faster. I ran through a few building like a wrecking ball on steroids before falling to my knees. I let the powers fade and felt the exhaustion hit me like an explosion. I had not felt like this since training at the train yard. I sat down and adjusted my breathing until it became comfortable for me to walk. I stood up after a good hour and absorbed all the current around be to supplement my recovery.
Once, I was finally back at one hundred percent, I began to channel a small amount of the grey bolt's energy. The moment it entered my body, I could feel the very space around me, it felt like a thick blanket that covered a bigger layer of reality. There was also a feeling that I was no longer bound by distance like everything was within reach. I turned my gaze towards the Avengers tower and moved towards it. I was already on to of it despite only take two steps. I looked back at starting point an saw a few birds for a moment before they disappeared again. F.u.c.k, I had accidentally destroyed the mirror dimension. I withdrew the grey bolt and felt my connection to the space become hazy but it was still there. I gathered the grey bolt in my hand and noticed that the space around my hand had dissolved in a purplish wisp like strands then finally, I pointed it towards the central park.
"I wouldn't do that Mr. Maxwell." I heard the ancient one's voice behind.
I withdrew that power and looked at the Ancient one. She had the same smile as usual but she was dressed in her black battle gee, with the Eye of Agamotto around her neck and a black blade strapped to her back.
"What is this power?" I asked and she opened a portal back to Kamartaj.
We walked in silence till we reached the library, but instead of going towards the books we headed to the empty glass case which was at a corner. She opened the glass case and inside it there was a piece of metal with a smooth side that had thousand of tiny engravings on it. She slowly released the barriers and spells around this object and it began to glow. I looked at it and felt a connection to it. It flew up and landed on my hand and the moment I touched it, I saw a huge armor staring at me. For a brief moment I felt tiny and insignificant, it came closer to me and I realized that my feeling was correct in more ways than one. I didn't even reach above the sole of its shoe. The being I front of me had a pitch black armor with beautiful golden stripes that ran down it line of symmetry and branched of near its neck, chest, abdomen and waist. There were golden stripes along it arms and legs.
"one with an modified eternal gene, carries our strength none the less, become stronger to stand amongst us or perish to the test." The being voice was louder than a bomb going off inside my ear.
I was writhing in unspeakable as the being spoke, despite the pain his words were clear and his intent was radiated. I knew that he would come here and he would stand against humanity. We would come together and live or die a meaningless death. My eyes opened and I saw that I was on a different planet, one with two moons and two sun's. I looked around and found that I had destroyed about 9 kilometers of area around me in my trance. I looked at my hand and saw that the metal had fused with my self and the area had turned black with a slight purple tint. I looked at my other hand and thanked my luck because the sling ring was still there. I relaxed and meditated for a while to get my bearings back.
What ever happened to had changed my biology significantly. I could feel that I no longer needed to sleep and my muscles would tire out after day and days of intense strain. I could also feel that my energy level had skyrocketed by nearly 10 time the previous amount. I sent out my bolt of smooth lightning and the amount had changed from a finger length to a meter. I held my arm out and sent a blast of muon beam and blasted a whole through a nearby Boulder. I practiced with my new strength till I could walk and fight normally before portalling back to Kamartaj. The Ancient One looked a bit worn out and was sitting down drinking tea.
"Perhaps, It would be better not to do experiments or artifact binds near treasured books." She said and scanned me. "Quite an accomplishment to morph into such a being." She said.
"What being?" I asked just to be sure.
"The celestials of course." She said and sent a plasma orb at me.
I tried to get out of the way but it was homed onto me, so I let it hit me. I expected the hit to feel like a sledge hammer but it felt like a slap. I raised eyes at the Ancient one and she had the same smile.
"That was a normal blast." She said and walked away.
What the f.u.c.k? That was a normal blast. I have seen her rip through 2 tier defensive spell with those. By all means it should have cause sever bruising and broken my sternum entirely. I immediately went to my cave and began to take measurements and tests. I now weighed 364 kilograms and my height was about 3 inches taller than before. I ran the DNA test and discovered that I could control my energy field outside my body for longer periods. Just enough to scan half my DNA. A few hours later, I had finally fully mapped my DNA out and lo behold, I am no longer what could be classified as a human. My DNA now had a new tri-helix structure with the new strand being entirely a new element. Luckily, my cells could still be affect by both the serums which were nearly 75% done. That was before this new DNA, now I have to rework it from scratch. F.u.c.k.
With that in mind, I began the work on serums. Later that day, I went to the Queens base and waited began the usual workout routine until, Fiore came back from work. She was surprised at how I felt different and even activated the spell for a brief moment to check if I was the real me. We ate dinner and went to bed. Normally, this would be the end of my day but from now onwards, this part of my life was over. I didn't need to sleep or more accurately I could no longer go to sleep. At most, I can go into deep meditation but those could take a few days to get out of. So, I did the next best thing. I slowed down my perception. It was essentially a state where a few hours could be compressed to a few minutes. I did this because I loved how Fiore would cuddle up next to me in the morning and I don't really want to cut that out of my life. She woke up early in the morning and smiled at me and squeezed her a bit before sitting up.
"I can sort of understand why Frandal behaves the way he does." Fiore said with a light chuckle.
"I am pretty sure you don't." I said and shook head.
"Oh, then why does he..." She didn't complete that sentence but started to turn pink so I assume that she gets it now.
I chucked at thee reacting and felt her pinch me. I yelped in surprise and jumped off the bed rubbing the side of my stomach. Fiore grinned at before we went to showers and headed out. I still felt a bit sore in the spot where she pinched. If I was a normal human, I would definitely be missing a bit of my flesh, thankfully I was me. After a quick breakfast, I went back to the cave and began to work. Stopping every once in while to enter the mirror dimension and practice my powers or to meditate. Either way, I was busy with this part of my life. I looked at the screen on one of my monitors mainly because it was flashing red and the reason was because of an anomaly. I looked at the screen and saw that a town in Australia had be wiped of the map.
F.u.c.k, how did this happen? I went into the Shield directory and pulled up the footage. There was a sort of tear in space time and the town had vanished. I portaled to the location and saw a crater with a 40 kilometer diameter. I looked like a it had been perfectly scooped out into nothing. The surface of the crater was smooth and if not for the dirt and dust, It would probably be a mirror finish. I flew around the crater to fell for any residual magical footprint or a sort of spatial disturbance but there was nothing. I let out my companion animals but they too felt nothing. Curiously, this didn't seem to be scoop out but rather a perfect spherical cut out. The center was about a kilometer up from the ground. I felt my phone vibrate and saw that it was Fury.
"Kid, tell me the damage report." He said in a serious voice.
"The town is gone, no survivors. The is a perfectly spherical crater 38 or so kilometers wide and it center I about a kilometer up in the air. I read no spatial signature or any other energy." I said and began to load my Vidor feed and data to the server. "If it is and alien race than it has to be light years ahead of Stark or Reed." I said and was immediately cut off.
"You wanna say that again kid? Dissing me behind my back?" Tony yelled playfully.
"Light years? Maybe advanced but light years?" Reed sighed as I heard Sue comfort him.
"So, there are people in on this conversation." I said and cleared throat to silence everyone. "So, yeah. I have no idea about this one. Maybe a few samples and a bit of testing could shed light but as of now, I got nothing."
"Speak for your self newbie." Tony said and huffed. "My money is on Pym particles. Dad went on and on about the pretty boy Hank Pym and how he revolutionized the particle theory and quantum physics."
"I can second this observation. I have read about this theory and according to Dr. Pym, if the particle were to be misused they could cause the matter to shirk out of existence into something called the micro verse." Reed added.
"Yeah, and if he was correct, then it will be impossible to find the location of the missing matter, well not impossible but it could tens years of exploration into a different dimension and hope with land in the correct spot. Well, human tend not to survive that long without food and water." Tony continued.
"Maybe we could build a quantum probability calculation based on the energy signature and quantum flux, which in theory could narrow down the numbers." Reed said.
"And then we could use your teleporter to send exploration teams. Might take one or two years but worth looking into. We need Pym particles to do any of this and last time I check Hank Pym is dead." Tony said.
"Not really, we have had a few sightings of him over the years but for the records he was classified dead." Fury added.
"So, we find him and boom." Tony said in excitement.
"Yeah, last sighting was 3 years ago in Peru, 6 years before it was in France, 4years before that he was in Japan. 5 years before that, he was in Cairo." I said reading out his sighting in order for latest to oldest. "Basically, he is impossible to be found."
"Maria, you said that we would find solutions to this problem but all I am hearing is about theories and impossibilities." A woman voice was heard.
"Madam President, we have leading scientists on dimensional theories and mechanics and engineering on the line here. If we can't find it the is a good chance that others can't either." Maria explained.
"We are announcing a world meet at the UN immediately, to look for solutions to this problem and there the problem will either be handled by the armies or the science communities but a coalition of the two will also be on the table. I want solutions to this problem, lives of thousands depend on it." The lady said decisively and hung up.
"What the military will nuke a crater?" Tony chuckled.
"Stark, mind yourself." Ross said and I sighed again.
"Just how many people are on this call." Tony and I asked at the same time.
